NARICES, BUHITOS, VOLCANES Y OTROS
POEMAS ILUSTRADOS
As the prions terrify Europe and the “mad cow” definition
extends and hovers like a deadly threat over the heads of consumers,
who are becoming vegetarians in droves, in the South of Spain, young
publishers, well-informed experts in the book market, proudly display
the logotype of their editorial called Media Vaca, a name which has
become a refined and acclaimed trademark in the art of publishing children’s
books that have an exceptional narrative and visual quality.
Narices, buhitos, volcanes y otros poemas ilustrados is an anthology
of poetic texts, enriched with unique images in terms of their capacity
of lyrical evocation and their extraordinary irony. It is a collection
of voices that come from different places all over the world that are
united by their ability to reveal the secret links that help apparently
distant realities to get close to each other via the creation of poetic
moments. These are Poets in the Spanish as well as the English and French
language, who are able to talk about the dramatic nature of war and
the lightness of shadows, the splendour of the mountains, the fascination
of night, and the alphabet’s humour at the same time. They are
poets who do not wear poet’s clothing, but they are perfectly
recognizable on printed paper, as authors of verses that create unique
emotions.
“This is a fine bunch”, assembled by Herrín Hidalgo,
who is in charge of the selection: a “band” of poets that
do not wear laurel leaves on their heads and they are not easily recognized
by their bowties, scarves, cravats, and hats. They wander the streets
playing hide-and-seek under false appearances, sometimes they have different
professions, and unlike scientists who try to explain everything that
happens, these characters, the poets limit themselves to formulating
questions that finally see the light after they have been turned round
and round many times in a ruminant stomach.
