The book which inaugurates this collection, My Beautiful City, is one that Taro Miura has dedicated to Tokyo. This is the first story that this illustrator has written, whose work appears in the catalogue of some of the main international publishers, and it has the form of a children's book, although it is a book destined for all readers. It is a book which has a resemblance to the city which he portrays: simple but calculated, nude but precise in its details, ordered but whimsical. He speaks of animals and money, important subjects for all Tokyo inhabitants. The main character is named Mito, like Taro's daughter, born at the same time as the book and to whom the work is dedicated, and she is a little girl who visits the Japanese capital for the first time.
