In the beginning was the hen was the title of a book of humorous drawings published by Insel Verlag of Frankfurt in 1976. Now, thirty years later, Media Vaca is preparing an updated edition which respects the original format in which the drawings were conceived. The book presents diverse stories about the leading character, half hen and half nun, who with philosophical and naïve complicity, travels through the world of discoveries. Leonarda, which is the leading character's name, admires her namesake from Vinci whom she views an unsurpassed master, quite unbearable due to his famous maxim: "Pitiful is the disciple who does not surpass his master".
