Media Vaca’s Public Life
The Media Vaca Publishing House was founded in
Valencia in 1998 by Vicente Ferrer Azcoiti (Valencia, 1963)
and Begoña Lobo Abascal (Bilbao, 1963).
1998

December 18th. Presentation of the first books in La Guillotina Gallery
& Bookshop (Valencia) in the presence of the illustrators.
1999
March-November. Participation in the XIV Young People and Children’s

11th of February. Awards ceremony of the Cálamo Extraordinary Award for the book, No hay tiempo para jugar (No time to play), by Sandra Arenal and Mariana Chiesa. Location: Restaurante Garden. Contest by: Cálamo Bookshop of Zaragoza. Cultural dinner, to describe it in some way, attended by the Publishers and the Illustrator. The other Award winners in the 4th edition of the Cálamo Awards were Javier Reverte (El río de la desolación, Random House) and Peter Stamm (Paisaje aproximado, El Acantilado).

II Jornadas Universitarias de Literatura Infantil y Juvenil (2nd University Workdays of Children's and Young Adult's Literature) in Huesca, dedicated to "Literatura y compromiso" (Literature and Commitment) and coordinated by Rosa Tabernero. Interventions by Isidro Ferrer and José Luis Cano in the closing speech. The Lecture by Vicente Ferrer was read by Mariona Martínez Dorado.
2nd of November. Presentation of the book Zaragoza in the patio of the Pablo Gargallo Museum. Previously, guided by the author, there was a walking tour around several locations of the city which are mentioned in the work. With interventions by Rosa Borraz, Paco Goyanes, Vicente Ferrer, Antón Castro, and José Luis Cano. Gourmet meal with wines from Bodegas Guelbenzu and ternasco lamb from Pastores Grupo Cooperativo.
2nd of December. Presentation of the novelties from the Publisher in Llibreria Associativa Sahiri by Begoña Lobo and Vicente Ferrer. Interventions by Ajubel and El Persa, who happened to stop by, and the attendance of numerous friends.
20th of December. Presentation of the book Libro de las preguntas (The book of questions) in the Tea Room of Teatro Principal of Zaragoza. Attended by the authors and intervention by Paco Goyanes, Cálamo Bookshop, and Rafael Campos, director of Teatro Principal. Each of the participants received a question from Pablo Neruda as a gift, as well as the poetic wine from Bodegas Guelbenzu and the illustrated ternasco lamb from the Pastores Grupo Cooperativo.
